This past Thursday, Dr. Miller presented to the Norwegian DBT Association on SAGE—a novel clinical-research program developed by him and his colleagues to support young adults experiencing challenges related to social and emotional functioning, behavior, identity, life transitions, and executive functioning.

The webinar presentation began with an overview of the unique issues facing emerging adults in the 21st century, including the impact of technology, the COVID-19 pandemic, and global events on their mental health and development.

Dr. Miller then introduced the SAGE program, a short-term, intensive outpatient DBT-based intervention tailored for young adults. The program integrates multiple stages and therapeutic modalities, incorporating core CBT principles, executive functioning training, and parenting support—built upon a strong DBT foundation.

Finally, Dr. Miller shared preliminary outcome data suggesting that the SAGE program offers both immediate and sustained benefits for participants.
